History of Company
| Porter Automotive Group is one of the nation's first Chevrolet/Buick dealerships and has remained family owned and operated since 1925. Wilmington Auto Sales, originally located in Wilmington Delaware, was founded in by John F Porter in 1925 and carried both Chevrolet and Buick brands. There was also a second location in Newark Delaware established that year which remains to today as Porter Chevrolet and Porter Hyundai. |

Over the years, the Porter family has owned and operated as many as fifteen different dealership locations in various states. Today, Porter Automotive Group consists of six different franchises, at several locations all in the Newark area. Porter has recently added the Ford, Infiniti, and Mitsubishi brands in 2008, and also offers Chevrolet, Hyundai, and Nissan brands.
Porter also owns and operates First State Motorcars, offering luxury pre-owned vehicles at discounted prices, as well as Affordable Rental Car, which offers a large variety of makes and models for daily and weekly rental at discounted rates.
Porter Collision Center locations, East and West, are both located in Newark as well and offer state of the art facilities, and the ability to repair and make and model of vehicles. We are a preferred repair center for several insurance companies such as Geico, Nationwide, State Farm, and Progressive.
